Our Christmas Entryway

I am so excited that the Christmas season has officially arrived!  Today, I am going to begin sharing how our home is decorated for Christmas this year.  Let's start with the front entryway, shall we?  I painted the signs for our own "Christmas Tree Lot" and wrote a post about how I made them here.

A few weeks ago, a lightbulb went off in my head while looking through the Crate & Barrel catalog when I saw some pictures of their Christmas tree lot photo shoot.  I immediately began planning a Christmas tree lot theme for our stone fireplace in the family room.  I painted the signs and created the red posts (made from 2x3's spray painted red).  But when I started to bring everything into the family room, I just wasn't feeling it.  I realized that I like to keep our fireplace more traditional in there.  Does that ever happen to you?  I was so excited about it and then bam...it wasn't working.  Ugh, now what?  I turned around and saw our foyer with its newly planked walls (a quick DIY project that I will be writing a post about soon), and I realized that everything would look so much better in there.

I painted the Tree Farm, Hot Cocoa, and Pine Tree Inn signs using the same method I used for our Autumn pallet sign.  The Christmas Countdown chalkboard came from the Target dollar spot.  The cardboard reindeer head (also from Target) will hold some of our Christmas cards as soon as they begin arriving.

I have been on the hunt for a vintage plaid thermos or two.  Since I haven't found one yet, I tied some ribbon around my son's green Stanley thermos.

The J-O-Y letters were a quick project.  I just covered some chipboard letters with scrapbook paper.

I made this chalk writing pillow using the same method I did for the black one.  I love this graphic of the kids sledding.  It reminds me of my boys :)

I tied some ice skates to the newel post.  The other side of this railing holds our "Christmas Thru the Years" garland.

The view of our foyer from the Family Room.

Our Trim a Tree Advent calendar fits right in here.  You can read about how I made that here.

Finally, here is a sneak peak from our entryway into our family room.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you will come back to see our other rooms.
