Dining Room Update {New Light}

Millennium Lighting 5 light pendant in famhouse style dining room
Hello and Happy Monday! Today I am excited to share a recent change we made at our house. We decided to give our dining room a bit of an update with a new light to bring things more up to date. Our old chandelier was small for this room and it began to bother me more and more. We had chosen it when our rooms were set up differently. You might remember that we switched our dining area and living room area around last fall. Now that we have decided that having the bigger table for eating works much better for our family, we decided to make a more permanent change. After much debate, we decided on the  (affiliate link) 5 light  pendant by Millennium Lighting.

We also added a new chalkboard (from Hobby Lobby). My original plan was to put the chalkboard on the mantel. But because I had a "duh" moment, I never actually measured to see if it would fit. So on the wall next to the fireplace it went!

I am so excited to have my first bouquet of peonies for the season. Their scent fills the room so beautifully,

It always amazes me how one change in a room can change the whole feel of the space. Have you made any changes that made a bigger impact than you thought?

  1. I actually love the chalkboard where you put it! And the addition of the little boxwood wreath is so sweet. The light is very nice and in good proportion with that beautiful dining table. Now if we could just have scratch and sniff on the internet, so I could smell those peonies!
    I haven't made any changes at home, but at work we added a pallet wall behind our counter. What used to be a very cluttered wall, is now just beautiful! We have lots of pallets at my work, so free wood! I smile every morning when I walk in the door!

    1. Thanks Chris! I like the chalkboard there too so it turned out to be a happy mistake. Aaah, love the smell of those peonies. If only they lasted longer! They are my favorites. Your pallet wall sounds amazing. It must add so much texture to your space. Have a great day :)

  2. You have such great ideas when it comes to decor, Courtney! Your dining room looks amazing! Love your new pendant light! Never thought of using a throw on your table! I'll have to try it in my dining room. I've been looking for a chalkboard for my kitchen for ever. Guess I'm on the way to Hobby Lobby today!

    1. HI Nancie! Thank you. I was considering making a chalkboard, but for the price ($45), I just took the easy route this time. And I was searching for farmhouse style table linens and coming up short when I spotted that striped throw at Marshalls. Happy shopping and let me know how you make out at Hobby Lobby! :)

  3. Where did you buy your wooden candlestick holders and the check curtain panels?

    1. Hi Connie. The candlesticks are from Target a few years back and the curtains are actually duvet covers from Ikea that I hung using clip rings. Hope that helps!

  6. I love the light fixture, Courtney...if I had a larger table I would definitely go for something like this. We share the same taste!!

    I LOVE the throw on your table...such a neat idea. I'm definitely going to try to find something more thin like this to dress up one of my tables! Genius!
