Our Master Bedroom Window Seat

The window seat in our bedroom has become one of the coziest spots in our house.  My youngest guy needs to read at least 30 minutes a day and it can be hard to keep him on task when he is downstairs with is brothers.  Recently, we have been going up to my room after dinner and keeping things quiet while we read for a half hour.  It has become a favorite part of my day!

Truth be told, my life is filled with distractions too.  If I pick up my phone to check my e-mail or Instagram, I will also put off reading a book.  This time forces me to take a break from it all too.  It is amazing what a half hour of quiet reading can do to relax me.

We have been using the ottoman that goes with the white Ektorp chair as a coffee table and to put our feet up on.

We use the stained glass lamp that my mom made for extra light, but now that the evenings are getting dark so early, I am going to look for a sconce or an overhead pendant to hang in the nook.

We are also able to store lots of stuff in here, including most of my craft supplies and bed linens for the master bedroom.

I am so glad we moved this old wall unit turned window seat with built ins up here.  It started as a pine wall unit, and then turned  into seating and storage in our kitchen.

When we realized it was the EXACT size we needed for this corner of our master bedroom, we moved it upstairs.  And that is where it will stay- for a while at least ;)  Some things are just meant to be!

  3. What a perfect little space. I've always loved old homes since they always have those sweet nooks and crany's but, how awesome that you created your own. I love it, what a great place to read and just sit at the end of the day.
