Do you decorate your bedroom with the seasons? I never used to but lately I have really been enjoying it. You don't have to add too much. Especially in a bedroom or bathroom, I think just a few changes with seasonal color can go a long way.

A Comfy Bedroom Refresh with a New Mattress
For most of us, this time of year is all about getting cozy and spending more time at home. I recently decided that our master bedroom was in need of a bit of a makeover before the true nesting season of fall and winter begins.
We kept things simple and classic and focused on creating the most comfortable bed that we possibly could. Our old mattress was over 10 years old and we were both dealing with some aches and pains in the morning. We had been testing out mattresses everywhere we went and began looking into online options. I think more and more of us turn to online shopping these days for both the convenience and the affordable quality. Still, it can be a bit daunting to make such a large and important purchase online.

DIY Window Seat/Reading Nook in our Country Cottage Style Master Bedroom
When it come to summer decor, I often crave the addition of more color in our home. I recently switched our bedding back to our patchwork quilt and decided to give our entire room a quick makeover, including adding a light to our DIY window seat/reading nook. I like to play around with switching up my decor but I will always come back to this country cottage look. For me, it just speaks home in a way that no other style does.

Blue & White Master Bedroom
Do you have a color combination in your home decor that you keep coming back to again and again? For me, that combo is blue and white.
I like to experiment with other colors, and even neutrals, but there is nothing like varying shades of blue and white for me. It is my home decor comfort zone.

Spring Master Bedroom
We lightened up our bedding for spring in our master bedroom. It felt so good to pack away the flannel sheets and we look forward to sleeping with the windows open soon.

Closet Organization Ideas & Our Master Closet
This year, in an effort to share the more real side of our home, I am highlighting some areas that I have never shared before. A couple of weeks ago, I shared our front entryway closet and I have to admit that I smile every time I open that closet to grab a roll of paper towels. Today, I am sharing our master closet. I never shared this closet when I did the reveal for our master bedroom and bathroom because it definitely wasn't photo ready. Here is a picture from our master bedroom reveal with the closet door tightly closed, hiding all of our clutter.

Our Master Bedroom Window Seat
The window seat in our bedroom has become one of the coziest spots in our house. My youngest guy needs to read at least 30 minutes a day and it can be hard to keep him on task when he is downstairs with is brothers. Recently, we have been going up to my room after dinner and keeping things quiet while we read for a half hour. It has become a favorite part of my day!

Master Bedroom Window Panels
When we finished the molding in our Master Bedroom, I loved the way it looked and didn't want to cover any of it with window panels. We added some woven wood shades and have lived with it for about 6 months. I loved the clean lines and uncluttered feel in the room. However, with the warmer weather arriving, we decided that it was necessary to be able to block more light from the room. Billy works rotating shifts so he needs to be able to control the light in here when he is sleeping during the day. Here is the new look:

Christmas Master Bedroom
Since we remodeled our master bedroom this Fall, we have been spending lots more time up there so I decided to add a few Christmas touches there, too.
A fresh wreath and some greenery make the room smell great...

Repurposed Wall Unit {Take Two}
Quite a few of you were wondering where we got the book shelves that now flank the window seat in our Master Bedroom Redo.
Actually, they have been in our house for quite a while. We first purchased them as part of a Broyhill wall unit about 15 years ago. They started out like this...

Master Bedroom
We recently completed our Master Bedroom and it is so nice to have a bedroom that reflects us. Goodbye 80's shag carpet! While we were painting, we kept wondering why we didn't paint years ago. It really is incredible how much change a coat of a paint brings. We painted our headboard with oil rubbed bronze spray paint and it's like a whole new piece of furniture....

Master Bedroom Planning
We have been planning/dreaming of what to do in our Master Bedroom since we bought this house 6 years ago. We love that our master bedroom and bathroom are completely set apart from the rest of the house. It feels like an escape when we get up there. However, because it is so separated from the rest of the house, we have left it neglected for way too long. Now that the bathroom is done (click here to see our new master bathroom!), it is time to move on to the bedroom. Finally!
This is what it looks like now. Since we moved in, we have basically added our furniture, hung a ceiling fan, and haphazardly hung a few pictures. We plan on keeping our bed (but painting the frame) and dressers (they are pine and high quality construction and I still love them)...
