Fall at the Cabin

Hello friends! Today I thought I'd share a few pictures of what fall is looking like at the cabin this year. I wait all year for the leaves to change. It is truly the most wonderful time of the year to me. Welcome!

Let's start at our cabin and then we'll take a ride to see some of the foliage nearby. We'll start inside but, let's face it, the star of the show at this time of year is the outdoors so we'll spend more time out there.

On the kitchen fireplace, I hung the old pallet sign I made many years ago. This has become such a core piece of my Autumn decor and it wouldn't feel like fall without it. I added the pack basket to the mantel and tried to make it appear that fall was literally spilling out from it. Not sure if I succeeded or not but I had fun putting it together.

It's hard to remember what the kitchen looked like before the addition of this island. This island has become the heart of the cabin. I love when everyone gathers around it! Such a great feeling when a plan comes to fruition and works out like you hoped it would.

I made some fun cut out cookies for fall. Why do I usually only make cookies like this at Christmas? These were pretty to look at AND delicious. I used THIS recipe. Use good vanilla and I promise you will be surprised at just how yummy they are. The dough was super easy to work with. The sprinkles were from Hobby Lobby. These would be perfect for Thanksgiving too.

Let's take a peak into the living room before heading to the back porch.

The big firewood delivery came so we had to make room for that but we still left room to enjoy our new DIY porch swing in the fall.

This porch also leads to our fire pit area.

The fire pit is the most popular spot to spend evenings at the cabin. I captured this pic during blue hour.

Let's head back through back door and check out the front porch. Dax is always ready to greet us with a smile. The kitchen door leads to the front porch.

This spot nearby the cabin is our favorite spot to watch the leaves change in fall.

Sitting in this open field feels like sitting inside fall. It was a sunny day and the colors were unreal. Such a great memory of the season. I tried to take in as much as I could before the long cold winter.

The downtown area of Schroon Lake was alive with color too.

And a few more pics from this year in surrounding areas. I'm not a landscape photographer by any means but I do enjoy capturing moments and images. I share some here and on Instagram but I take them more for personal satisfaction than anything else.

  1. Your pics are fantastic! You are so blessed to have this cabin for your family. Thanks for sharing the beautiful fall foliage photos. Our leaves here near Raleigh, NC are just beginning to turn. They usually peak about mid-November. We have more deep yellows, golds and oranges than reds, but the color is still special.

And I always look forward to seeing your decor. Can’t wait to see your Christmas 🎅 inspiration! Thanks again.

  12. I love all the photos! Living in Miami I don't get to see the leaves change. I loved how those gorgeous Victorian homes looked with the autumn trees, reminded me of the Catskills. Thank you for the beautiful glimpse of fall. Your home looked lovely with so many of little things that show how much work you have put into it, a real home!

  15. Hi. I had a question about your main home, kitchen range. If you have a minute, I am looking to replace mine. Currently I have an older (Craigslist find) Amana Double Oven. Only the top oven works. I have an old O'Keefe & Merritt Stove top with four burners and a griddle. It works like it did back in 1965 when our house was built. (It's great) However, my kitchen is quite small and I have no counter space to work on very easily. I am considering a range/oven combination like the one I see in your home. As I age, however, I am wondering if all the stooping down to use the oven will become a big problem....backaches, dropping roasting pans, etc. Yours looks like the door opens at a nice height. Please tell me what brand it is and if you totally love it. I need to make this decision within the next few weeks. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
