Our Christmas Mudroom and Entryway

Welcome to my very first Christmas post for this year! I enjoy adding Christmas touches to most of the rooms in our home and will be sharing them over the next few days. Then, I will finish up with the big HouseWalk tour at the end of the week. Let's start in the mudroom, where both our family and most of our guests enter our home. This is always one of my favorite spots to decorate for the holidays.

This space works hard during the Christmas season and all year through. It is fun to add some holiday cheer to the first spot that our visitors see. I started with the new "Farm Fresh Christmas Trees" sign from Michaels and added items that we already had that worked with it. More source will be listed at the end of the post. The baskets (old from Pier 1 many years ago) hold our hats and gloves - there is one for each family member. Our dogs enter and exit the house through the mudroom as well so we keep their things in here, including leashes, treats and an extra water bowl.
In our front entryway, I added a wooden sled (from TJ Maxx last year but I have seen similar this year) to our chalkboard. I haven't taken the time to come up with any new chalk art for a while, so my new (easy peasy) formula for this area is to leave the chalk written "welcome" and add either a wreath or holiday item above.
I am loving our new "Countdown to Christmas" sign at the top of the entryway stairs. There is a snowflake on a peg to countdown the days. My boys are a bit old for Advent calendars so this works well for us this year. The wire basket holds loose odds and ends.
I am so excited that the holiday season is upon us and I no longer have to be embarassed when guests come over and see all of our holiday decor in mid-November!
