Embroidery Hoop Photo Mobile

We have been getting our fair share of cold and snow in the northeast the last couple of weeks.   On a recent snow day, I was feeling some major cabin fever and decided a fun project was just the remedy.  I had seen the idea on Pinterest to make a photo mobile from embroidery hoops a few months back and I bought all the supplies needed on a trip to Michaels.  And then the bag from the store got stuffed in my closet and forgotten about.  Does that happen to you too?  So when I found the bag during my big January push to organize everything in my house, I was happy to have everything I needed.

I used 3 different sized embroidery hoops and painted them a gray color using Americana chalk paint I had leftover from another project.  Other than that, I just need some small wooden clothespins, rope, twine and a hot glue gun.
I used a thicker rope for the top, and then the thinner twine to connect the hoops.  Getting everything to hang evenly was a bit frustrating, but once I hung it in the window I was able to straighten things out.  I hot glued the clothespins to the hoops.  Then I printed some of my favorite pictures and letters/numbers from Shanty2Chic.  I ended up laminating them because even though I printed them on linen card stock, they tended to curl up a bit on the bottom.
I hung it from a command adhesive hook in our front window.  I love that I can change it up with recent pictures.
No golden retriever was awakened for the duration of this project:)  Forrest was very tired after playing in the snow.
I wish I could say that this was our last snow day of the year, but it isn't looking that way.  Guess I better get back to the craft store one day soon so I can have supplies on hand for another project!

  1. Your mobile is just perfect! A few years ago there was a light fixture similar to your mobile that I really wanted to buy but I was chicken. I like what you did better.
