Fall Decor in Our Home

Hello friends! Today I am going to share some photos of our home all dressed up for fall. As much as I enjoy decorating for Christmas, I do think our home "feels" the most like its true self during fall. The colors and the light just seems to suit everything so well.

If you are a chaser of light like I am, then you know that there is absolutely nothing like that golden light that streams through the windows during this season. It never fails to stop me in my tracks on those days when the whole kitchen seems to glow.

The only thing new in this space this year is the sink skirt, sewn from a tablecloth from HomeGoods. I love adding mums to the window boxes just outside the sink because I get to appreciate them everyday. I planted them in early September and kept them well watered and they still look great!

Our dining room also has a few fall touches. I briefly considered wallpapering this space but ended up settling on wallpapering the back of the bookshelves (for now).

Finally, let's head up to our primary bedroom and bathroom.

Fall at our Cabin in the Mountains

 

Hello friends! I thought I'd share some pictures of fall at the cabin. Our little cabin in the woods of the Adirondack Mountains of upstate NY is my very favorite place to be in this season. I had originally planned to stay for a couple of weeks as the leaves turned but life had other plans and so I got there when I could. This has been a season of change in so many ways and watching the leaves change and fall is definitely a reminder of how beautiful it can be to let things go.

This was my first season to decorate our newly refreshed fireplace and so I started there. I layered a couple of garlands from Hobby Lobby and then added in dried hydrangeas and lights and some other natural items. I love how it turned out and am already brainstorming ideas for Christmas.

In the kitchen, we made a sink skirt and curtains from a clearance tablecloth we found on a clearance sale at a great little store in Keene Valley called The Birch Store. If you even find yourself in this neck of the woods, I highly recommend a stop there.

I have really enjoyed making bouquets from the garden. I planted lots of seeds with early fall in mind and it really worked out even better than I thought it would. I'm already planning next years's garden.

My friends at VHC Brands sent me some items for the cabin including the tea towel in the above picture and the adorable pumpkin pillows below.

Upstairs in the bedroom, we added in some fall colors in the form of bedding. The floral quilt is from HomeGoods this year and the duvet cover was a super soft Amazon find that is so cozy!

Now let's head outside to see some of our outdoor fall decor. Our front porch is the first stop.

We added pathway lights made out of pumpkin pails and solar lights to the front walkway. They look great all lit up in the evening.
