Our Red and White Master Bedroom at Christmas

I enjoy decorating the entire house for Christmas, but over the last few years I have come to find that our bedroom is the spot I quietly enjoy most of all. When I go up the stairs at the end of a long day, I love to see the twinkling Christmas lights on the tree there to greet me.

We keep the lights on the tree on a timer so they go on at dusk and then off right before we fall asleep.
On our bed, I added a couple of quilted Euro shams that I found for a steal at Pottery Barn after Christmas last year. I always love Pottery Barn's quilts, but not their prices. So I know to grab them when I see a good sale. Also, these shams have a lovely bold pattern and color. Therefore, using just the shams is an affordable way to add a bit of style without going overboard. I paired them with a white duvet cover with simple red stitching from Ikea that I purchased a few years back. At the end of the bed, I added a fair isle throw from HomeGoods (purchased this year).
I usually start each room with a piece of "something" that inspires me. This year I knew I wanted to use the shams and also I found the cabin pillow at TJ Maxx, which depicts just what all of my holiday "cabin in the snow at Christmas" dreams are made of.
I traded out our blue and white drapes for simple off white curtains for the season. Our yellow bee chair got a holiday makeover by way of a tartan plaid throw "slipcover". Especially at the holidays, I find that using a throw is the easiest and most affordable way to camouflage an item that doesn't fit in with the rest of your holiday decor. I added a new pillow with a Christmas Golden Retriever motif (purchased at HomeGoods this year).
Everything else is reused from past years. I will add a list of sources to the bottom of the post.
This is Dax's favorite spot - at the end of the bed, where all of the goings-on in the rest of the house can still be monitored while resting.
And I couldn't resist adding one last Dax smile to this post! I hope it brightens your day as much as it does mine.
Please stop back tomorrow for the big HouseWalk. I will be sharing our holiday family room for the first time and a compilation of all of my favorite photos from this weeks' posts. I can't thank you all enough for your lovely comments this week. I am smiling, just like Dax, because of your kindness. :)

    1. Thanks so much, Shelley! I had to have that pillow the moment I saw it. We have way too many HomeGoods stores around here (according to my husband ha) and I have seen this pillow at 2 of them so I hope you find one. It was a very recent purchase.

    1. Thanks so much, Lauren! I too have way too many Homegoods stores within a close proximity to my house (according to my husband anyway lol). I have seen this pillow at 2 of them. When I found it, it was the only one and I grabbed it, but then I saw a whole bunch of them in another store. I hope you find one. It was a very recent purchase so they should still be out there.

  9. It's all so lovely. I adore all the red and of course I wish there was a link so I could just hop over and purchase the throw on the bed right now. (I so wish Home Goods was online...) The little towel over your sink in another post is darling too. I love the cover on the bed as well and that red and white folded quilt beneath the bench. I basically want it all. And yes, Dax is a sweetie.
