Our Classic Christmas Dining & Living Room

Good morning! I am continuing to share a few rooms decorated for Christmas before it is my turn to share at Jennifer Rizzo's Holiday HouseWalk on Friday. Have you been following along on the HouseWalk? This is always my very favorite blogging week of the year! For today's portion of my home tour we are in our living and dining room areas. It's always difficult to figure out what to call these spaces because of our open floor plan. If you are new here, our house is a typical 1950's split level that we knocked down many walls in to suit our family better.
I use the term "dining room" super loosely because we are not a formal dining room sort of family. This is our everything table - family dinner, homework, craft projects, puzzles, gift wrapping - no formal place settings here.

The Christmas Tree Farm theme has become a classic for us. Several years ago, I painted the signs that are hanging over the mantel this year. They find their way into our holiday decor each year. As a blogger, I really do enjoy playing with new styles of holiday decor. This year I experimented with more bronzes and warm tones in our family room and I am loving it. I will be sharing that in the HouseWalk on Friday. But up here, it is all our traditional and collected items. This space is the heart of Christmas for our family this year.
This is the tree where our mish-mosh of family ornaments landed this year. I went with a sort of fair isle sweater vibe in here. The red and white tree ribbon is from Target.
I added a mix of plaids and knit pillows in the window seat. I would love to put our tree in front of this big front window because it would look great from the street all lit up at night. But, that doesn't really work for the floor plan in this space so it is in the corner of the room this year.
Our farmhouse hutch holds my collection of Christmas cookbooks and a few favorite momentos. And  of course - a necessary staple for the holiday  - our Bose speaker to listen to Christmas music.

We added these DIY shelves last year and I always enjoy styling them for the seasons.
I added a piece of garland to our lantern light chandelier and it made such a difference. I love small touches like that!
If you didn't get a chance to see the other side of this space, you can see our kitchen Christmas decor HERE. Thanks so much for stopping by today. Until next time - when we head upstairs to check out our master bedroom.

    1. Thanks so much, Marsha! The curtain panels are from Christmas Tree Shops. I checked online and can't find them on their website. I purchased mine in store.

  10. What do you use to hang the wreaths on the windows? I LOVE that look! I have a big picture window that would be perfect for that!

    1. Thank you! I use large suction cups (from the holiday department at Target) to hold my wreaths on the windows.
