Mother's Day 2016 |
Parenting is hard, which makes Mother's Day such an important day. At least that is what I tell my boys so they will pamper me. :) I had a lovely day on Sunday. My guys gave me some great gifts- a pool float, a new edition of our family's favorite board game (Ticket to Ride) and a book of poems. They know me well. I can't wait for the warm weather to arrive so we can open the pool and I can try out that new float. We also enjoyed brunch at my brother and sister-in-law's house. I brought bottles of wine for the moms at the brunch and I dressed them up with some tissue paper flowers that my son and I made. These are so easy to make. Tutorial here.
After brunch, we had a low key afternoon, hanging out home together with the pups. The sun was (finally) shining. It was a good day but over too soon. I think it should be changed to Mother's Week.
Now that the warmer weather is hopefully here to stay, I am excited to get outside and plant some flowers this week. I also plan to share some pictures of a town on the shores of Lake Champlain that I fell in love with when we were away for Spring Break. And we planked another (small) wall that I can't wait to photograph and blog about too. I hope your week is off to a great start!
So glad you had a nice Mother's Day. I know you are proud of your boys. I had a nice day to, we only have one son, married and two great Grandchildren ! Your pup si getting big fast . They both are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! Wow, 2 great grandchildren! You are blessed. Glad you had a great Mother's Day too.
DeleteYou certainly have lots of "boys" in your household. I had three daughters so have had to learn about boys from the grandsons. There is a real difference!
ReplyDeleteYup, definitely an abundance of boys around here!! I hope to learn about girls from granddaughters some day too. :)
Deletemy daughter is also turning 18 this week and graduating in June. Such a busy time of year! That is a lovely photo of you and your boys. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Elona, Thank you. You are in the excite same stage of busy as us. Congrats to your family. Enjoy it!!
DeleteGlad you had a great Mom's Day. Your boys are so handsome. The days of them growing up go so quickly.
ReplyDeleteIt just seems like yesterday when we had prom, homecomings and graduations with our two girls. Even the college years go quick. Enjoy every minute.
Hugs,
Kris
Glad to hear you had a nice Mother's Day! As I look at your beautiful picture, I realized I never took any pictures of my mom or the kids and I that day! I guess it flew by too fast! Speaking of flying by to fast - congrats on your son's graduation! I am looking forward to reading your post. Before we know it, I will be needing that advice! The days really fly by don't they? I can't believe another school year is coming to an end! Enjoy the rest of your week and let's hope for more sun and warmer temps! Hug those doggie for me!

So glad you had a lovely Mother's Day. These days seems like they fly by in an instant. My own nephew is a junior in High School soon to be a senior. My sister sent me pictures of him in his tux going to his junior prom and I was in tears thinking wow, no more baby! Hoping the weather continues to improve here and get warmer. Kisses to the pups!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanette! The years just seem to go faster the older they get. I think the weather is supposed to get a but warmer starting tomorrow. Anything is better than all the grey days we had last week. Enjoy your week!
DeleteEnjoy your special days and milestones...they go quickly! Great article, Courtney!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - wait, better yet - how about MOTHER'S MONTH?????????????
ReplyDeleteYes!! Mother's MONTH!!!
DeleteCourtney, what handsome guys - all of them! Those talks on drinking (and drugs) - so important. I'm happy to see you take a stand on that front. It's so hard navigating kids from children to adulthood. Mothering in those years, I think, are the hardest (at least so far, and mine are now 31 and 28). Have fun playing in the dirt. I need to figure out my containers for this summer and get busy also.

Hi Rita, Thank you. I couldn't agree more with you about the later years being the hardest parenting years. Have a great week!
DeleteHi Courtney. Glad you had a nice Mother's Day. I remember going through all of the issues about drinking and consider myself very lucky that there wasn't alot of problems involved. My grandson is so consious about drinking and driving and I am so glad. It's is hard being a parent sometimes..Happy Wednesday..Judy
