Happy Mother's Day & A Few New Finds (all under $10!)

Hello friends! Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful moms out there. And to those of you who are missing your mom or a loved one today, I am sending you a hug. I know how hard it can be for me on Father's Day when I see everyone posting pictures with their dad. Holidays can be very bittersweet for so many.

Today, I thought I'd share a few odds and ends and a couple of things I have found in my travels. The pretty flowers in these pictures are from Walmart. They were super cheap ($5.87) and I love that they aren't the usual assortment of flowers found in a supermarket bunch. I also thought I'd share this new wallet/phone case. A couple of weeks back, Anne from Modern Mrs. Darcy shared a link to a similar wallet, and I immediately ordered one.
It is so convenient to have everything I need in one small bundle that I can grab and go. Especially at this time of year, I am either grabbing my camera bag or tote bag, so I don't need to carry a purse too. My phone is the ginormous iPhone 6 Plus, but they do make them for most of the other popular phones. I got mine on Amazon (here's a link) for $9.99.
While I was at Walmart the other day, I picked up this 3 wick candle because the scent was "Rustic Lakehouse" and, as I have mentioned too many times to count, I am forever dreaming of our someday lake house. It smells great, burns well and reminds me of the candles I usually buy at Bath & Body Works. The best part is the price is $4.93. You can find them in the aisle with the room fragrance sprays and plug-ins.
Dax is growing fast and is now 5 months old. There is so much love and chaos in our house because of this happy puppy!
It has seemingly been raining forever here in NJ so I have had time to read a few books that I thought I'd recommend. Both "The Good Girl" and "Under the Influence" kept me hooked from the first pages. "When Breath Becomes Air" was written by a neurosurgeon who was dying from a brain tumor and it was a fascinating (albeit sad) read. Because of my mom's stroke, my family has been in contact with a neurosurgeon, and it was interesting to read from a doctor's point of view. Also very emotional.
Have you read anything really good lately? I am waiting for a few requests to come in at the library. So many new great books coming out this time of year.

I am looking forward to Mother's Day Brunch at my brother's house this morning. And spending time with my guys. I hope you have a fantastic day!

I'll definitely be looking for that candle. It's cute and if it smells good for that price, I'm sold!

  11. Finished 'When Breath Becomes Air' a couple of weeks ago and am still thinking about it. Just finished 'Ordinary Grace', a book suggested by someone on another blog, and I really liked it as well. You can read a synopsis and the first chapter at http://www.williamkentkrueger.com/ordinarygrace.html If you like non-fiction and feel like learning more about our judicial system... I highly recommend 'Blind Justice'. It will make you rethink everything you ever thought about people in prison and the wheels of justice. It is an eyeopener for sure!
