Keeping A Clean And Germ Free Home With Three Boys, Dogs & Clorox®

There's no doubt about it, with three boys and two dogs, life gets messy!  This time of year, I am especially focused on ways that I can keep my family healthy.  In our busy household, with three school-aged kids, it is easy for germs to spread.  Before you know it, the same cold and flu viruses can end up being shared throughout the whole family. We miss out on school, work and fun and nobody has time for that!  I appreciate that Clorox has a variety of products available that can help stop the spread of those sneaky viruses that we are all trying to avoid.

I know that prevention is key.  Since the flu is actually most contagious BEFORE symptoms arrive, it is important to wipe down surfaces frequently.  The flu virus can actually live for up to 72 hours on household surfaces so it is imperative to stay on top of things.  But, let's face it, with our busy schedules, there is no time to deep clean our entire house every 72 hours.  Therefore, I try to concentrate on the areas where the germs most frequently end up.  The Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes make it easy to wipe down phone receivers, door knobs, light switches, remote controls (and other electronics that are touched frequently).  I keep a separate container of the wipes in each of the most used areas of our house and even my boys wipe things down themselves now.  No one wants to get sick.
Clorox Disinfecting Wipes - www.goldenboysandme.com
Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes kill 99.9% of cold and flu viruses and bacteria.  These easy-to-use wipes can be used on many surface throughout your home (including sealed wood) and make it easy to wipe away those lurking germs.  The wipes will kill Staph, E. Coli, Salmonella and Strep.  Our youngest son brought home a strep infection from school just before the holidays, but I wiped down all of the commonly used surfaces in our home and fortunately no one else in our house caught that virus.  It is definitely worth it to take the few seconds to wipe things down.
In the kitchen, I like to use Clorox® Clean Up Spray to wipe down the counters.  I feel more confident in the cleanliness of my kitchen when I use a cleaner that has bleach in it.
In addition to my kids, my dogs also tend to make messes around here.  With a young puppy in the house, we are frequently cleaning up a variety of messes!  I like to use Corox® Clean Up Spray to wipe up pet accidents too.
If we are talking about cleanliness in a house full of boys, how can we leave out the bathroom?  Yup, I use Clorox® Toilet Bowl Cleaner VERY frequently at our house.  A boy's bathroom needs bleach.  Lots of bleach.  Using Clorox® products keeps things sparkling clean, germ free and smelling great- even in a bathroom shared by three boys! Clorox cleaning products are available at Amazon, Target, Walmart, Staples and Costco.  You can find out even more by connecting with Clorox on Facebook, Pinterest and on Instagram and Twitter @Clorox. How do you prevent the spread of cold and flu viruses in your home?  Tell me in the comments for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.

  1. I get so worried about everyone getting sick this time of year. We've been pretty healthy so far except for a cough that my youngest has had for a couple weeks. Practically everyone we know has it! I always wipe down the most touched surfaces like doorknobs and I am always reminding my kids to wash their hands when we get home from somewhere. Dax is looking as adorable as ever! He makes a great model!

  3. I have three children, a dog and a cat. We go through Clorox wipes often! I always try to wipe down door knobs, toilets and especially game pads and controllers. Doing that seems to help when someone brings a nasty germ home from school!

  4. This is unrelated to your post and probably a stupid question but I like the style of your toilet paper holder in your bathroom, do you recall where you purchased it? Thanks. Also do you use just a simple cafe curtain or something for your bathroom window? I just repainted our bathroom and trying to finalize some window treatment ideas without putting too much on the window. I admire your bathroom!

  5. Courtney only you could make cleaning and disinfecting sound and look beautiful. I use clorox wipes all day long even at the office we have someone that wipes down the door knobs daily with them. I live in a house with 3 men/boys my husband, son and 5 year old grandson so keeping our shared bathroom clean is my most challenging task but with these products it makes it a little easier.

  6. I use Clorox wipes at my office. When I get sick it's almost always from being around sickly co-workers, so preventing the transmission of germs from my desk to my house is a crucial step. At home, everything gets a good scrub, especially the kitchen and bathroom. A clean house makes everyone feel better, too!

  7. Great post! I too use wipes constantly!! One important key!! Grocery shopping or any public place shopping!! Have the flecks use hand sanitizer before they touch your merchandise!! Otherwise you are bringing other peoples germs into your home! I ALWAYS have the grocery cokes wipe down the belt and the gun and the area that they scan your food! Then they hand sanitize! I wipe the keypad and pen too!! I don't want germs all over my food bringing them into my home and then into the frig !! YIKES ! Also use wipes when you leave all public areas ans wash your hands with hot soapy water!! It is the key!

  17. Clorox wipes are my favorite quick cleaning tool. I use them to wipe down the bathroom counter everyday, doorknobs and light switches every week (hmmm, every 72 hours? maybe I'd better pick it up). I also use Clorox products on everything in the bathroom, floor cleaner for my tile floors, and in my laundry. Clorox is the best!

  19. I love the Clorox wipes...I keep them in both bathrooms and wipe everything down every morning. I start from the more cleanest surfaces first like the vanity, then sink, then handles. Don't forget the top of the pump on your liquid soap dispenser---it's the first thing we touch after using the toilet (ugh!! TMI!). I also wipe the flush handle. Clean bathrooms are a biggie for me, :)

Love that little guy of yours!
