Winter Fun - Dogs & Snow

Hello from snow covered NJ.  The storm hit us pretty hard (we got about 18 inches), but we didn't get quite as much snow as locations to the south of us.  Our boys were happy to report that it was a light snow, which made their shoveling jobs easier.  Our younger boys shovel for neighbors and our oldest works for a friend of ours who plows.  He shoveled snow all through the night and then some - hard work, but good money.  Me?  I stayed warm by the fire and read Chris Bohjalian's new novel, "The Guest Room" (a great read).  Today, I thought I would share some snow pictures and dog pictures since those both seem to be the headlines around our house.

Keeper and Dax both love the snow.  No surprise there, right?
Just after the holidays, we spotted a toboggan on clearance at Marshalls.
It had a plaid cushion cover, looked like it had potential to become a family heirloom and was half price so we just had to buy it. We couldn't wait to try it when we went upstate.

Sledding is still fun no matter your age!
Back at home, Dax has been a huge help in loading the dishwasher after dinner each night.  As have the local police.  Haha.  Because we live in the town that Billy works in, he is able to stop home for his dinner break.
The dogs also like to supervise from under the table when I cook dinner.
Keeper has adjusted beautifully to being a big sister.  This picture is from a couple of weeks back, before snow.  Dax has already grown so much!
Thank you for indulging my dog obsession.  Signed, that crazy dog lady.  My next post will be related to home decor, pinky promise!

  1. You can share your pup pix any time!! They are both beyond precious and it's so cute the way keeper has really taken on the role of big sis!! I love the way Dax helps with the dishwasher - ha ha. My sister's Golden used to lick the plates as she was loading the dishwasher!

    1. That is so funny about your sister’s dog licking the dishes! I am sure my dogs would do that if we didn’t have to practically wash our dishes before we put them in the dishwasher. Our dishwasher is the worst! I wish I could find one that worked well.

    2. I bought a Bosch and LOVE it! I've never had a dishwasher that actually worked well, until this one. It's wonderful!!

    3. Thanks Kendra! You know, you are the second person who has recommended a Bosch to us recently. I am going to look into that. It would be so wonderful to have a dishwasher that worked.

  2. Courtney, you have my vote to show those darling doggies whenever you want! Oh, those faces are just precious! I am sure they had a blast in the snow. I couldn't get Rosie in! The worst part was pulling off all those snow balls that would get stuck in her fur. What a mess!
    Signed, another crazy dog lady

  6. I am a new reader. Love your style! Love that toboggan! I live in MN and we hardly have any snow. It is a weird mild winter for us so far. I love your dog pictures too. It is my goal to get a dog this year. I want a little yorkie though.

    1. Hi Mel! Thanks for reading. It had been a strange winter for us in NJ until this past weekend. Obviously, I think having a dog makes life better, no matter what the type or breed. Yorkies are adorable. Good luck!!

    1. Golden are the BEST! Our vet just shook his head (as he smiled) when we brought Dax into his office for the first visit because he knows how many health issues there are with goldens and how attached we get to our dogs. But we just can't help ourselves. This breed is worth it.

  12. Never have to apologise for doggy photos! My husband, who was a Police Officer for 30 years (retired 2009) could sometimes pop home for luch too which was always a fun thing! :)

  14. No apologies needed. As fellow golden lover and owner that is something I never tire of. Dax is just delicious. I wish I could just give him kisses and belly rubs. It's beautiful how well he and Keeper get along. I especially love the picture of Dax in the dishwasher with Billy. I guess he is the pre wash setting!

    1. You made me literally laugh out loud when you said Dax is the pre-wash setting, Jeannette!! I am so happy that the puppies are getting along well. Dax is Keeper's shadow and Keeper is VERY tolerant. Have a great day!
