Kitchen Dish Towels Turned Kitchen Curtains

Turn kitchen dish towels into curtains. Easy & affordable DIY-www.goldenboysandme.com
I have mentioned {quite frequently} my love of kitchen towels.  I love that they are usually affordable and they add style to the kitchen.  And they are useful.

What's not to love about kitchen towels, right?  My favorite places to shop for them are Crate&Barrel, HomeGoods, SurLaTable (on clearance) and good old Target.  Target currently has flour sack towels for $3.99 and the prints are absolutely adorable.  Since we changed the clocks, the sun has been shining right onto our kitchen table at dinner time.  We don't need curtains on our kitchen windows for privacy, but we needed something to diffuse the light a bit.  So my wheels started turning right in that aisle at Target when I spotted these vintage kitchen tools towels.  I thought they would be the perfect curtains!

I didn't want to attach a permanent rod to these windows so I simply used a tension rod.  Here is everything I needed for each window, all purchased at Target:

Tension Rod-$1.99
Drapery clips-$5.99
Kitchen Towel-$3.99
I planned on just folding the dish towel if the fabric was longer than my window, but as it turned out, the dish towels were the same length as the windows.

These curtains have added so much charm to our kitchen.  I love the fun vintage print.

It was so easy to just hang  the towels from the drapery clips.  I used the same "faux pinch pleat" method I used on the tablecloth curtains.

And I have found yet another reason to be obsessed with kitchen towels :)

  2. The towels are so very cute and that was a great idea to use them as curtains. We have patio doors and a skylight in our kitchen but I would love to have a beautiful window over the sink like yours.

  6. Did you find the curtain towels online or in the store? I can't find them anywhere. (Our store did have the one on your sink, but not the others)

    1. Hi Denise. I found them in store. They had 3 different styles in the flour sack dish towels. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they are available online :(

  7. I LOVE these, so I immediately went on search for the towels. Our city has two Targets, at one, the towels were sold out and the other didn't even stock them. So sad :(
