A Day Trip

We had our first 60 degree day this week.  After the cold winter we just had, 60 degrees felt like summer!  Seriously, we saw people in shorts and flip flops walking around with all the snow melting into huge puddles.  Billy happened to be off that day (there are some perks to his crazy schedule), so we took a ride to Putnam County in Upstate NY in our convertible.  We crossed over the Hudson River on the Bear Mountain Bridge, a picturesque bridge over a narrow portion of the river.  The day started out cloudy and cool and I was beginning to think they were wrong about the forecast.
However, once we got over the bridge, the sun came out.  We stopped in the village of Garrison to check out the giant ice chunks making their way down the Hudson.  Those gray stone buildings just across the river are West Point, always an impressive sight.
This old beauty is near the Hudson River.  Love that porch and those windows.
This area is just full of old charm everywhere you look.
It was such a unique day, with the warm temps and the winter landscape.
We stopped off for lunch, and headed back to NJ before the kids got home from school.
Back at home, I have been continuing to add some spring touches to our house.  I will be sharing our kitchen, living room and family room starting early next week.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Courtney.....You did it again!! Looking at your scenic pictures made me all happy inside. All that snow & ice is incredible for the tri-state area. You have the eye of catching the right moment. So glad you & your hubby enjoyed an early spring like day together. Your son looked Handsome & excited for his Junior Prom! : )

  4. It looks like you had a wonderful day, Courtney! I never realized that you had all of these rolling hills in upstate NY. Pretty! And so much snow on the ground still. We have been melting for a week now-finally! Temps hit 60 today and my hubby and I visited a very old town nearby and did some browsing (okay...I opened my wallet a few times!!).

Lovely pic of the two if you~love that scarf! :)

  6. OK, I read this post out of sequence, but for some reason I can't click on the Prom post so I will comment here. You can't tell me that those two cutie-pies (that I mentioned above) have a son old enough to go to Prom. Hope he had a good time..Happy Monday..Judy
