Striped Drapes {and Lantern Light Fixture}

Striped drapes in Fall Living Room-www.goldenboysandme.com
Hello friends!  Recently, I have been getting lots of questions about the striped drapes in our living room so I thought I would talk a bit more about them today.  When I saw them in TJ Maxx, I thought they would be perfect for my youngest boy's room.  They cost just under $30 for the pair and I left the store a happy camper.  I have had my eye out for striped drapes for a while now.  They also had a pair that was khaki and white, but I liked the gray better for his room.  When I brought them home, I thought maybe I would try them out in the living room for a couple of weeks because I was craving some change in there.  Here they are in our summer living room.

I thought for sure I would change them out for fall when I brought more browns into the room.  But, I love them so much that they still ended up staying here.  I added some yellow to the gray with the large wreath (purchased at Marshalls a couple of years ago).  I am really enjoying this fresher take on fall  this year.

I realize that not everybody has a TJ Maxx locally and even if you do, it is definitely hit or miss whether you will find a particular item.  I found very similar drapes online at Crate and Barrel.Alston slate curtain panels from Crate and Barrel
They come in a few different colors and they are a but pricier than mine were.  However, they make such a great statement in the room and I think they are worth it if you can't find them at TJ Maxx.

And that is the story of our living room drapes.  I think I will leave them for Christmas too.  Or maybe not.  I am forever changing my mind :)

 I also received a few questions about the lantern light pictured in our living room.  Here is a link to that one on Amazon:

I hope your week is off to a great start!

  4. LOvely room. Have you ever done a post about the fantastic light over your table in the kitchen/dining room? I think my chandelier might be a little too small for my room and that one is very unique.

  5. I saw a documentary on the success of TJ Maxx and even though the executives weren't giving out their business plan, much of their success was due to small volume and fast turnover, forcing the customer to purchase so as not to lose the item. You know women, comparison shop, think, think, think. Can't do that with TJ. Its now or never in most cases.

    1. That is interesting. I would love to see that documentary! I know that I have had the thought that I needed to buy things right away if I want them there with no time to think about it, but I didn't realize it was part of their business plan. Makes sense and brilliant on their part.

    1. Hi Sarah,
      Thank you. The brand is Hillcrest. That is the only thing it says on the label.
