The Start of our Summer

Our boys are finally finished with school after what felt like the longest June ever.  We have plans to have a very fun summer!  We got to put our boat in the lake for the first time this season and there is nothing like that first boat ride of the year.

Our youngest boy turned 9 this week.
He won't be able to go for rides on dad's shoulders for too much longer...but for now we are savoring these last younger years with our youngest boy.
Forrest and Keeper look ready for a ride.
My summer reading is off to a good start.  I have a long list of books I hope to read.  I started with "These Things Hidden" by Heather Gudenkauf and I couldn't put it down. It was a quick read with enough suspense and twists to keep me hooked.  I love to find a new (to me) author who has already written several books.  I quickly added a few more of her books to my "to read" list.  I also read "Little Lies", which is a short prequel to Gudenkauf's latest novel, "Little Mercies".

Attention fellow Target lovers- Target has some great prices (70% off) on clearance in their home decor department.
Target pouf, Ikea Jennylund chair, stenciled pillow, galvanized stool used as a side table
I picked up this pouf that I've had my eye on since early Spring for about $20, the lamp shade for about $5, and the galvanized stool for $24.  I love to get more trendy items like the pouf and lampshade on clearance.

I hope you summer is off to a great start, too!

  1. Our youngest just turned 8 so I know how you feel! Sounds like summer is off to a great start. LOVE that picture of the dogs in the car!

  2. Everything is beautiful! Where did you get the lamp base? Love those!

    1. Thanks! The lamp base is from Target as well. I bought mine last fall, but they still have them in my local store.

  3. They don't have those here and I couldn't fine online. If you can find, would you mind posting the link for me? :) Those are exactly what I want for my twin boys room.

  4. ETA: They have Target here but just not that lamp base. :)
