Winter in our Kitchen

Hello there!  I feel like it is taking me forever to get back in the groove of things after the holidays.  I am finally getting things back in order around the house.  I really do love this time of year.  There are less activities pulling us away from home and everything moves at a slower pace.

Billy finally installed this caged light pendant that I found at Target on clearance last summer.  It originally had a plug on the end of it, but he managed to hard wire it to the recessed fixture above our sink.  I am thrilled with the charm this light added for the $5 I spent on it.

I enjoyed unpacking these Pottery Barn lanterns, a Christmas gift from my sister-in-law.  It was so hard to decide where to hang these.  They ended up flanking the mirror in our dining area and I love how they finish off this space.  The finish on these is black and the finish on our light fixture is a bronze do they don't look great together.  I haven't decided if I want the hurricane chandelier to stay here, but if I do I will be spray painting it to match the lanterns.  I am on the hunt for a new light for here, but it is No Spend January here, so that will have to wait.

I picked up the cutlery Kitchen Paper runner at GarnetHill.com when it went on clearance right before Christmas.

I added a chalkboard printable from TheGraphicsFairy.com  in a frame on our new kitchen mantel.

It's alway fun to decorate this DIY kitchen stand.

I love the art of Susan Branch and the whimsy her calendar adds to our kitchen.

Finally, the snow is falling outside and I think it is time to make some comfort food.  I hope you are keeping warm and enjoying this quieter time of year.
