I think the best days of the holiday season are the quieter ones. We have been getting lots of snow here in NJ and it makes me want to stay home and bake. Which is exactly what I have been doing. I love the way these sugar cookies came out. I used a cookie cutter I found at TJ Maxx recently.
These are now hiding in the freezer until Christmas. My boys would eat them all before the weekend if I left them out. Also in the freezer are Linzer Tarts (minus the raspberry jelly filling which I will add after defrosting), butter cookies (which I dip in chocolate and sprinkles after defrosting) and my grandmother's bridge cookies. My middle guy, Kyle, was a huge help with cookie baking this year.
We also attempted to make some gingerbread dog houses from a kit. They didn't come out great, but we enjoyed decorating them so that's all that counts, right?
We had a blast driving around looking at Christmas lights and using this Scavenger Hunt idea I found on Pinterest. Have you seen it?
We have been enjoying the snow. The hill behind our house is a favorite sledding spot for family and friends. And friends who are really more like family, the best kind of friends!...
Our dogs love snow, too.
With Christmas just days away, I still have shopping to do. And cleaning. And cooking. Are you keeping busy too? I hope you, too, have found some time to enjoy the simpler things this season.
